Louis Vuitton Cake

This past weekend was Jessie’s red carpet themed birthday party! I made her a Louis Vuitton cake as it is her favorite bag. Although it looks complicated, it is really not that hard to make.
Here are some steps to follow to create your own LV cake!

(1) Bake 5 cakes and put in freezer for one day. The cake is easier to carve when frozen.
(2) Stack the cakes with icing in between each layer and then carve to desired shape.
(3) Roll out fondant and use a stencil of your choice. You can buy edible paint or spray paint at any craft store. I got mine at Michael's.

(4) Create other accessories for the purse out of fondant

Hint: use icing and dabs of vanilla extract as glue!

Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $50 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 200 research projects nationally.

Fall Fashion Trends 2012

Yes, it’s that time of year! All the stores have  finished their summer sales and are transitioned in to the hottest fall fashion pieces! Edgy and soft is the best way to describe Fall 2012 Fashion. Some of the hottest colours you will see are; burnt orange, peach, olive green, venetian red, eggplant, and royal blue. Below are some new trends for you to try this year!

Tops:

Military Jacket
Try combing this edgy look with a soft flowing shirt underneath for that added girly touch. Go to Aritzia to find the perfect military jacket!

Denim Shirt
Denim always gives off that laid back, cool 80’s vibe that can look really hot with a pair of skinnies and heels. Go to TopShop to find a denim shirt!

Oversized Knits -
This is a super comfy look. Be sure to pair it with a tight fitting jean so that you don’t look “too comfy.”

Bottoms:

Printed pants

A pair of jeans with a wild print worn with something simple will really make an outfit stand out without going overboard. Choose a pattern that best suits your personality!

Corduroy
Sexy, skinny, corduroy jeans are the hottest trend for fall! I always love a great skinny jean because it’s easier to transition into your winter wardrobe because you can easily tuck them into boots! Go check them out at FreePeople

Leather Leggings
 – Go to BCBG to pick these up!

Tuxedo Pants
Girls night out! Pair these with a cute top and a heel that covers your toe for a super hot vixen look. Go to ShopBop to find a pair!

Footwear:

Toe caps –

The perfect shoe for the office. The toe cap flat or heel is very sophisticated and screams “promotion”. Visit Town Shoes or Sam Edelman for this look!

Over the knee boots - Go to Steve Madden or Aldo

Moccasins -
Who doesn’t think Pocahontas is hot? The colour and comfort of a moccasin is the perfect shoe to wear for a casual day. It also brings in the fringe trend that we saw earlier this summer.

Fall Makeup Trends 2012

The look for Fall 2012 beauty is about experimenting  and mixing light and dark tones. Bright lips matched with light eyes and vice versa are the hottest makeup trends this season. Colour also takes a spin this Fall by thinking outside the box on old traditions-- adding in new colours and ways to create the same look. Take a look at the following trends to make your statement this year:

For the Lips:
The Dramatic rouge pout is back for Fall 2012 -- red is always right for Fall but it's also captivating a new hue using deep milled-wine stains which are rich in chocolate undertones. For ultimate look I recommend a matte finish which you can spice up with a gloss if needed! A lip exfoliator once a day is great for keeping lips looking smooth when painted a red.

For the Eyes:

Colour blocking is making its way from summer clothing to the eyelids this season. Teal Greens, Cobalt Blues, and Bright Purples make the perfect colour blocking combination for Fall 2012. Get the peacock eye look by blending all three colours on the eye like pictured below.

The Smokey Eye is always in but this season it's spiced up by smoking outside the box using brown and purple tones.  Purple tones really enhance brown and green eyes. Try a simple grey or brown to bring out a blue eye.

Sketched Eyelashes are created by adding and blending strokes of eye shadow to mimic the look of lashes. This look was hot on the runway and red carpets for Fall 2012.

For the Cheeks:
Weathered Blush is the look for 2012 by adding warm blushers to the cheeks to create a wonky flush of winter.  By adding colour to the cheeks you can give the illusion of a tan without using a bronzer. Blushers really brighten then face.

The Brow:
Defined Brows are back in style thanks to celebrities like Megan Fox and Kim Kardashian. The brow is the initial frame work to the face and by thickening the brow you're creating a luscious bold statement. To fill in the brow simply use a pencil followed by a shadow to set it  with a stiff angled brush. An eye shadow alone will do the trick and will look completely natural.
