Toronto's Beer Festival 2012

This past weekend Jessie and I experienced Toronto’s Beer Festival 2012! It was definitely a good turn out as tickets were sold out fast! Everyone who is anyone was there! Some featured breweries were Coors Light, Creemore Springs Brewery, Guinness, Labatt, Mill Street Brewery, Miller Chill, Molson Coors Canada, Moosehead, Richard’s and Steam Whistle, also accompanied by some yummy greasy food! There were so many different performances, our favorite was Salt-N-Pepa (Push it REEAL good) and no I am not referring to Jessie and I. We also competed in a little beanbag toss and watched a giant game of Jenga! I can’t wait until next year! A big thank you goes out to our camera man @producerbrad

See below for some of our favourite girly, summer beers!

Infinity Health Centre - Toronto

Toronto's Infinity Health Centre is the perfect one-stop-shop for all your health needs! You can now make all of your appointments with just one phone call including Chiropractic Health Care, Medical Walk-In Clinic and Family Practice, Physiotherapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Massage Therapy, Medical Acupuncture, Cosmetic Medicine and Custom Orthotics.

The name Infinity Health Centre really says it all because there is an infinite amount of services here, plus it’s in a great location right central downtown Toronto. This Centre has something for every aspect of your lifestyle. The Infinity Health Centre has a team of Health professionals that are there to give advice and help you reach your goals. This is a great place to really learn more about your body.

The Infinity Health Centre is very bright, modern, and clean with no wait time at all. Jessie and I were fortunate enough to experience the full body massage from their registered massage therapist, Shummy Sangha. Shummy is a hard worker as I can say this was the best massage I have ever had - the ultimate massage for someone who sits at a desk all day! It is really hard to find a massage therapist who will really use the right amount of pressure while listening to your needs and communicating with you on your progress.

Another service at the clinic that interested me was the Naturopathic Medicine. Recently there has been a new health craze with gluten-free diets and all organic, plant based lifestyles, but where do you start? What is right for you? I am really interested in going to their Naturopath to learn more about my nutritional deficiencies because I am anemic, as most woman are, and I need to learn more about my nutritional intake.

Kobo eReader

The ‘Kobo’, an anagram of the word ‘Book’, enables you to browse and buy with WiFi and have a library of up to 30,000 books!
Reading made easy! It is a lightweight & compact touch screen that you can take anywhere! No more uncomfortable holding positions or wrist pain!  It even has a library where you can rent books for free! The unique thing about the Kobo is that there is no glow or light coming off of the screen. This prevents damage or soreness to your eyes. I thought it wasn't even turned on when I saw it because it looks like real paper!

My favourite thing about the Kobo is that it has a built in dictionary. So when you come across a word you don’t know, you can click on it and find the definition within seconds! It also allows the reader to personalize the font, font size, and paragraph spacing.

The Kobo costs only $100 dollars and you start off by getting 3 books for free. Earn points and rewards as you read. It also recommends other books you may like according to what you have on your library.

Shellac - Nail Polish

We are right in the middle of summer and this heat is taking a major toll on our nail polish! Ocean water, pool water, gardening and other summer activities leave our nail polish dull and lusterless L

Solution: Try Shellac nail polish! Shine is long lasting, and polish is chip free and you are left with 14+ days of superior colour!

How is Shellac different from regular nail polish?

The female Kerria lacca, found in Thailand and India forests secrets a substance used to process Shellac! Shellac has been most commonly used as a wood finish for that glossy look. Recently (2010) it’s been used in a nail polish for that same glossy, rock hard, rock on finish.

Shellac is applied in layers and dried by a UV light. It dries within minutes and it looks even better than acrylic nails! It is also healthy for your nails and won't damage them! Get to the salons and try it out! ($30)

Heavens Fitness Calgary

While out in Calgary for the 100th anniversary of Stampede, I joined a fitness club in the downtown area which helped keep me in optimal shape while on vacation. I joined a week of Heavens Elevated Fitness and fell in love with the classes and the atmosphere. Heavens Fitness is a boutique facility which leader in all aspects of fitness, health and wellness. Their vision is to give their clients an elevated fitness experience by providing personal training, nutritional services, life coaching, and fitness classes for the optimal fitness experience.

Heavens Fitness is best known for their personal training and cycling classes but I decided to test out the Pilates, Zumba, HIT (High Intensity Training), and the Cardio Surge class which kept me lean and fit through my poor eating habits at stampede! I didn't have to feel quite as guilty for the extra drinks or festival food as these classes burned away the calories and helped tone my troubled areas. The instructors are the best in the industry and help motive you through the hour workout. I highly suggest joining a class or partaking in the personal training if you're a Calgary resident or just visiting! Fitness is a lifestyle.

Not only are they a gym but Heavens Fitness also provides massage services as well as day care, fitness apparel, yoga accessories and Kaya Juice to refuel with healthy living snacks and shakes post workout.

Calgary Stampede 2012

This past July 6-15th I headed to Calgary to enjoy the 100th anniversary of the Stampede --what an amazing event. I love country music and make yearly visits to Nashville but nothing compares to the fun, excitement and honkytonk the stampede brings to the city. Everyone is decked out in cowboy-girl gear from head to toe and the streets are filled with haystacks, party goers, and live music.  I got to rock my cowgirl hat and boots and attended a few of the amazing events surrounding the city. Being my first time to Calgary, we started the trip off in Banff where we took in the beautiful scenery of the mountains and dined in the village. There were so many delicious candy and fudge shops surrounding the many worldly restaurants. It's definitely a must see while visiting Alberta. My boyfriend Jordan and I bought fudge from the shop, enjoyed a lunch then walked the beautiful scenery of Bell Falls. It's an incredible experience. Then we headed back to the city where we attended the Blue Rodeo concert at Cowboys, the Dallas Smith show at Nashville North, rode the mechanical bull at Ranchmans and walked the fair grounds taking in delicious bbq and, of course, the beer tent. I have been trying to eat a gluten-free diet and found some great spots and dishes around the city. UNA Pizzeria has amazing thin crust pizza and it's available gluten free! It was delicious and a great atmosphere with a patio. Another Gluten-Free must have was the seafood pasta at Thompsons inside the Hyatt Hotel. It's a title more upscale but still affordable prices and the best gluten-free pasta dish I've tasted.  Another great spot to hit whilst visiting Calgary is the infamous Melrose and Metropolitan Grill. They all offered a great ambiance, live music, and amazing food!  Overall it the Calgary Stampede was an event of a lifetime and is definitely a vacation I suggest everyone experience once in their lifetime.

Map My Run - Fitness Mobile App

@MapMyRun is just about the coolest new iPhone, Blackberry or Android App I’ve been using for my regular workouts! It’s a fitness tracking device that uses GPS to map out the routes that you run/jog/cycle while also tracking your speed, elevation, pace, time, distance and calories burned! Customize your profile to add friends, create nutrition plans, log workouts & map your routes. You can save all of your workouts and see how well you progress! My favorite part about the App is that I can share my progress on Twitter or Facebook! This is a real motivator because you want to be able to show off to your friends and family how far you have come in your workouts! #Running reduces stress, makes you more alert, intelligent and is great for your heart and overall health. Did I mention that it is all FREE!

Get Cheeky this Summer

Get Cheeky with Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics

The Chandeliers and Champagne girls had a fantastic evening being pampered with manicures and pedicures by the Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics ladies at the Blue Room Spa in Milton. The C&C Girls spent the evening  getting the works whilst drinking Champagne, eating chocolate chip cookies and having some good ole girl talk. The Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics line isn't your conventional beauty line, nor are the women that wear it.  Being Cheeky is all about feeling free to express yourself and your personal edginess. The Cheeky ladies believe that every woman should engage their cheeky side and enjoy the joke. To be good you have to be a little naughty-- that's exactly what the nail polish names and drink pairings bring --  a fun afternoon with the girls.  Be sure to check out www.cheekymonkeycosmetics.com to pick out your favourite nail polish and pair it with your favourite cocktail! The cool thing about the Cheeky names are that each polish and name comes with a personal story behind it!
