Bright is the new Black

The Chandeliers and Champagne girls caught up with lead makeup artist Caroline Buzzanga from Creatively Beautiful (www.creativelybeautiful.com) to find out what's new and hot for Spring 2012.

She began her career at the School of Makeup Art, and from that point took up various teaching positions at makeup and aesthetics schools.

She has also worked as a makeup artist for programs aired on CBC Television, YTV, TeleLatino, The Women’s Television Network, and CityTV. Her work and editorials have also been seen in Salon Magazine, Canadian Hairdresser, the cover of The Perfect Wedding Guide, and as a part of Canada’s wedding and newlywed guide, Choices for Two.

We caught up with CB to give you the latest trends for 2012. Here's what she had to say:

"The beautiful sun is shining on the crystal aqua waters, rich fruit growing on trees and colourful bursts of flowers blooming.   These are some of colours that influence fashion this summer 2012.
Bright is the new black.

Have a Eye for colour:
This season it is all about having fun with your makeup.  Crank the colour in your crease with a lemon or a lime shade, experiment with a turquoise or Magenta.
Work with the colour of your Eye to make them pop.

Bubble gum & tangerine Cheeks are all the colour craze this season.  Apply on just the apples of the cheeks or right on the length of the cheek bone area.

Quench your thirst with colour on the Lips also.
Popular colours for your pout, are bright pink fuscia, mauve or tangerine lips.

To avoid creating a clown effect choose one area of the face ie. (eyes, cheeks, lips) that you would like to have with a burst of colour and make the other areas balance out with the chosen area.

Fresh skin is in.
Shelf your regular foundation to a lighter formulation, such as a tinted moisturiser that gives the skin a brighter, dewy look.  Tinted moiturizers with spf, can make the skin appear more youthful and subtle.
Bronzer is always a great product for the summer, especially if you want that ‘sun kissed glow’, but don’t over do it.

Only bronze areas of the face that the sun would natural fall on and tan.  Avoid areas such as around the eyes, nose and mouth.  Applying too much there could add age.

Hot for Hair
WAVES, BRAIDS and BUNS

Waves are always a nice summery style that can suit all occasions.  Create curls with a flat iron or create waves with an wand iron for longevity in the summer heat.

With the popularity of movie characters sporting braids, it is no wonder they have become so popular amoung teens and adults alike.
Braids can be worn many ways to suit the wearer and their style.  One is swept over the front part of the bang and tucked under the ear.  Other ways are from one side of the head to another with a low side ponytail or bun.

The sock bun has been popuralized by the beautiful ‘Jennifer lopez’.  A crisp clean, high full bun.  Fancy enough for a special occasion or fresh enough for a picnic in the park.

Ombre a popular request at the salon
For a fashionable look in colour this summer, Ombre (sun kissed highlight) is still a very stylish hair colour trend, for long hair.
With the appearance of a darker shade at the roots and lighter midway to the end of the hair, will give the wearer an edgy look that is  also very low maintenance."
