ROSETTON - Online Dress Boutique

After Attending Divas In The City 3 this year, Jessie and I discovered an amazing new dress boutique called ROSETTON, perfect for any special occasion or any casual summer day!

1. Tell us about ROSETTON and what you specialize in.
ROSETTON was born out of my love for fashion & business. I would remember dressing my mom when we went shopping and I knew then that I enjoyed dressing her very much. It felt natural and fun for me.
ROSETTON is focused on selling occasion-based, fashion-forward dresses. To make it to our runway, the dress needs to be: beautiful and moving. We chose to focus on occasion-based wear so we can connect more meaningfully with our customers. I've always been a firm believer that life is all about special moments and by helping people for their most celebrated moments, our work gains value.

2. What inspired you to start this fashion line? When did you launch?
I feel that the most beautiful girls are the happiest girls, definitely comes from within. Our dresses aim to enhance the personality of our customers even more.
We launched in September of 2011. We started off by doing a few booth shows (Toronto Clothing Show, National Women's Show, etc). Our family currently has 4 members: Alex which takes care of our online presence, Larah which takes care of our communications & marketing, Christine which takes care of our sales styling, and myself which glues the pieces altogether. We are a start-up so we are getting the brand out there like there's no tomorrow. This is our passion. To me, it’s my life :)

3. What styles and colours are trending this summer?
Styles: bra top dresses, wavy silhouettes, overlay, prints, appliqué & floral
Colours; aquatic, red, yellow, pastel colors such as mint green.

4. What celebrities would best represent ROSETTON?
Emma Stone, she is very down-to-earth, beautiful inside and out, funny, smart, humbling, and driven. She would be the perfect face for ROSETTON.

5. What are your favorite dresses from your label?
My favorite dresses are the one-shoulder Jane dress and the purple Vera dress. They are just fun and little stunning pieces - with one look, they just aim to move you into feeling lots of great emotions, be it excitement, or 'wow, damn, I want to get to know her!' Our beautiful dresses extend the awesome personalities of our customers even more.

6. Do you have a physical location, or is it strictly an online site? We do not have a physical location - we are an online site. This saves us $ for rent and in turn, saves our customers $. As a result, we offer our customers FREE SHIPPING anywhere within Canada. By being an online brand, we provide better convenience to our customers by being available 24/7 for easy access and ordering.

Jessie's favs:

SkinnyGirl White Cranberry Cosmo
100 colories

Hollywood housewife, Bethenny Frankel's tendy signature Skinnygirl white cranberry cosmo is a sassy take on the classic cosmo including hints of orange, subtle lime, berry fruit notes and cranberry into sweetened bliss.  This pre-mixed drink with white cranberries and premium vodka is amazing to quenxh thirst guilt free.  Can be found at majority LCBO and liquor stores.

Skinny Sangria
100 Calories

The traditional fiesta drink can be made guilt-free with both red and white wine. Just mix your favorite wine with diet lemon-lime soda, skip the sugar and add some fruit for sweetness. We suggest fruits such as
oranges, apples and berries  (blackberry, blueberry for great antioxidants)or, for extra summery sangria, use peaches, grapes or pineapple.

Leah's Favs:

Low Cal Mojito's
All you need for this refreshing pool side beverage is 2 oz. white rum, 4 oz. club soda, fresh mint leaves and lime wedges! Muddle the mint leaves at the bottom of a martini shaker, add ice, rum, soda, and squeeze some lime to taste. Shaken or stirred, you will love this drink! You may also add warmed honey if you like it more sweet or muddle in some raspberries to make it more fruity!

Low Cal Caesar

The Caesar is everyone’s summer go-to cocktail! We aren’t talking caesar salad! Take a tall glass and run a lime wedge around the rim. Turn the cup upside down and dip into a dish of caesar cocktail spice (celery salt). Add Ice, 1 ½ oz vodka, 4 oz Mott’s Clamato Juice, 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce, 2 dashes of Tabasco sauce. Garnish with a lime wedge, celery stalk, or spicy bean, add pepper to taste! You may also pick up premade caesar cocktails made by Mott’s Clamato at any LCBO store. (Homemade is the best)

Feather Earrings Make a Comeback

One of the biggest trends we're seeing for 2012 in Hollywood is the return of the feather earring.  Some of the hottest stars and fashion icons such as Miley Cyrus, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Biel, Selena Gomez, Blake Lively and Drew Barrymore have all been rocking the style on red carpets across the globe. We caught up with Canadian jewellery designer, Lorri Schlamp, from Polished Presence Design to learn more about the fad and where you can get them here in Canada.

Can you tell us a bit about Polished Presence Design and what you offer?

Lorri Schlamp of Polished Presence Design is a jewelry designer now based out of Edmonton, Alberta area. Polished Presence originated in Prince George, British Columbia but recently made the move to the big city to expand their business and their fan base. They specialize in feather jewelry and also sterling silver and gemstone creations, all handmade, and all completely one of a kind. Their jewelry is eco-friendly and sophisticated, but perfect for everyday wear.

What are your personal favourite pieces in the PPD collection and why?

Polished Presence's personal favourite pieces from their collection are they Eyelash Peacock Feather Earrings with Sterling Silver and Turquoise drops. This particular pair was made for a fashion designer in Quebec. Their other most favorite pieces are the Green Feather Earrings with Copper elements, they have such a bohemian feel.

Feather earrings are such a huge trend for 2012, can you tell us about your designs

When primitive man/woman first sought to make themselves attractive, they chose from their environment objects which were bright or colorful and wore them in their hair, strung them about their neck, looped them about their middle, or otherwise applied them to their person where application was possible.  Polished Presence believes that feather earrings represent and symbolize many things to different people, and you can give your own meaning to a pair. From beautiful semi-precious stones (ranging from Garnet, which is January's birthstone, to Amethyst, Aquamarine, etc.) that are added onto the earrings, to gorgeous Vintaj Brass or Pantina Copper, the elements that Polished Presence adds to the pieces made make them versatile, adding colour and flair to any outfit. It is the versatility and originality that seem to keep them in demand over the years.

What celebrities inspire your design taste?

While feather jewelry has been around for a very, very long time, for me it was Steven Tyler that created the resurgence of feather accessories by wearing them in his hair on a regular basis. Polished Presence was inspired by his Hippie flair. Other celebrities that have inspired their designs is Vanessa Hudgens, who embraces the bohemian vibe. Gwyneth Paltrow pulls them off in a sophisticated but spunky way. They give a celebs a natural splash of youth.

Head over to Polished Presence Design on facebook by clicking here to check out the collection or email polishedpresencedesign@hotmail.com for more information and pricing. All pieces can come customized in just about any colour and style or length imaginable.

Quinoa (Ki-nwa) the super food!

Quinoa is another super food that is home to the seed family and is closely related to beets and spinach, with a texture similar to couscous. Originating in the Andean region along the coast of South America, quinoa was referred to as “the mother of all grain” by the Inca Empire. This gluten-free food is easy to digest and is packed with protein, calcium, iron and fiber, making it the perfect dish for vegans and/or vegetarians, people with the celiac disease or Jessie, as we all know how crazy her stomach is. It’s also very easy to prepare and cooks like rice.

Breakfast: have with fresh berries, nuts, and honey!
Lunch: have it as a Greek salad with cucumbers tomatoes and feta!
Dinner: have it in a stuffed red pepper dish with tomato sauce!

Bright is the new Black

The Chandeliers and Champagne girls caught up with lead makeup artist Caroline Buzzanga from Creatively Beautiful (www.creativelybeautiful.com) to find out what's new and hot for Spring 2012.

Caroline “C.B.” Buzzanga is an industry veteran in cosmetic artistry, who has had over 12 years of experience in makeup artistry and wedding makeup, serving Brampton and the GTA. She began her career at the School of Makeup Art, and from that point took up various teaching positions at makeup and aesthetics schools.

C.B. Buzzanga has had many involvements in ongoing fashion shows as a makeup artist, working with major companies such as L’Oreal Professional, Wella Canada, Tony and Guy, and Redken. She has also worked as a makeup artist for programs aired on CBC Television, YTV, TeleLatino, The Women’s Television Network, and CityTV. Her work and editorials have also been seen in Salon Magazine, Canadian Hairdresser, the cover of The Perfect Wedding Guide, and as a part of Canada’s wedding and newlywed guide, Choices for Two.

We caught up with CB to give you the latest trends for 2012. Here's what she had to say:

"The beautiful sun is shining on the crystal aqua waters, rich fruit growing on trees and colourful bursts of flowers blooming.   These are some of colours that influence fashion this summer 2012.
Bright is the new black.

Have a Eye for colour:
This season it is all about having fun with your makeup.  Crank the colour in your crease with a lemon or a lime shade, experiment with a turquoise or Magenta.
Work with the colour of your Eye to make them pop.

Bubble gum & tangerine Cheeks are all the colour craze this season.  Apply on just the apples of the cheeks or right on the length of the cheek bone area.

Quench your thirst with colour on the Lips also.
Popular colours for your pout, are bright pink fuscia, mauve or tangerine lips.

To avoid creating a clown effect choose one area of the face ie. (eyes, cheeks, lips) that you would like to have with a burst of colour and make the other areas balance out with the chosen area.

Fresh skin is in.
Shelf your regular foundation to a lighter formulation, such as a tinted moisturiser that gives the skin a brighter, dewy look.  Tinted moiturizers with spf, can make the skin appear more youthful and subtle.
Bronzer is always a great product for the summer, especially if you want that ‘sun kissed glow’, but don’t over do it.

Only bronze areas of the face that the sun would natural fall on and tan.  Avoid areas such as around the eyes, nose and mouth.  Applying too much there could add age.

Hot for Hair

Waves are always a nice summery style that can suit all occasions.  Create curls with a flat iron or create waves with an wand iron for longevity in the summer heat.

With the popularity of movie characters sporting braids, it is no wonder they have become so popular amoung teens and adults alike.
Braids can be worn many ways to suit the wearer and their style.  One is swept over the front part of the bang and tucked under the ear.  Other ways are from one side of the head to another with a low side ponytail or bun.

The sock bun has been popuralized by the beautiful ‘Jennifer lopez’.  A crisp clean, high full bun.  Fancy enough for a special occasion or fresh enough for a picnic in the park.

Ombre a popular request at the salon
For a fashionable look in colour this summer, Ombre (sun kissed highlight) is still a very stylish hair colour trend, for long hair.
With the appearance of a darker shade at the roots and lighter midway to the end of the hair, will give the wearer an edgy look that is  also very low maintenance."
